Adults may have the 1996 Summer Olympics in mind when thinking about Atlanta, but youngsters think about zoos, parks and movies. Looking for fun? Here are some of the uncountable cool activities available in the city!
Visiting museum can be a fun activity to do with your family if it involves some gigantic dinosaur’s skeleton, any skeleton, animals, fun things that children are interested in. Atlanta has a wide variety of museums that will do it, such as the Center for Puppetry Arts which will provide educational fun with its 350 puppets exhibition from all around the world. And what about World of Coca-Cola?
Recreating in a park
If you travel around the town, you cannot miss Piedmont Park. While parents relax on a bench opposite water and light shows, children have fun on swings, seesaws and slides of the Noguchi playscape and the Mayor’s Grove playground. Get on your canoe at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area which is adjacent to the park! More green, more welfare! Do not miss the Atlanta Botanical Garden with its flower beds and majestic trees. The place also offers a special garden area for children.

Observing animals is surely fun for the whole family! So the Zoo Atlanta has to be part of your itinerary. This is where you can admire the nation’s largest collections of gorillas and orangutans and the rare giant pandas. In overall, there are 1,300 animals representing more than 220 species. If your family really loves animal, then visit Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary where you can surprisingly see a lion, a tiger and a bear live together. This is a refuge for abused, neglected and unwanted exotic and domestic animals, located 30 minutes south of Atlanta in Locust Grove.

Going to a festival can also be cited among the best family activities as a special theme is celebrated in a single place. Then you have plenty of something good during a given moment: a lot of Jazz at Piedmont Park on Memorial Day weekend during the Atlanta Jazz Festival, the best arts and crafts shows during the annual Yellow Daisy Festival… If you are familiar with New York’s New Year’s eve Ball Drop, for Atlanta the Peach State, it is the New Year’s Eve Peach Drop!
